Whodathunkit! 😂 They are if you find it hard to figure out where knobs with minimal markings are turned to!! Lol. My original plan was to use numbered Luminlay knobs, they make perfect ones for this bass. But since they are out of production, I had to go custom…and @Chopthebassknew a fella… 1 Quote
Chopthebass Posted January 13, 2023 Author Posted January 13, 2023 Still waiting for the pickups! But found time to sand and buff. I’m loving the flame! 16 Quote
Si600 Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 Is using the rolled up ball of sticks how you get such a lustre? I really like the flaming on that. Quote

My plan at the start was to make it blue, but the maple had quite a dark red/brown hue, and a test piece didn’t take stain the way I wanted. 3 Quote

Hellzero Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Don't forget to copper shield the pickups cavities and star ground them too otherwise the shielding is totally useless... 1 Quote

Yup, that’s the plan. I’m still waiting for the pickups and once I know the fit nicely I’ll do the copper. I run a ground from each pickup cavity, and bridge, and then ground everything to cavity shielding. It’s the only way to do it effectively. 1 Quote

durhamboy Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 As Andy said, top class job and great attention to detail. PS. Interested to see where the ash(?) backed body in one of your pics is going. Is it another build going on at the same time? (Sorry if I've missed where you've mentioned that one at some point.) Quote
