Terchy
Hi all, Im looking to modify my Sire P7 to remove the tone pot in favour of a single switched "treble off" level. Reason being I don't like the ergonomics of sharing a stacked pot for volume when playing live. This means i need to replace the passive part of the circuit which includes a 10k pickup blend pot. I plan to replace it with a 250k MN blend pot (I couldn't find suitable 10k option). Will this cause problems? I also plan to keep the existing active EQ circuit, and use a dpdt on-off-on switch to select between passive capacitor bypass, passive capacitor in, and active EQ circuit. Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of with this plan? Thanks
mybass
I think 10k pots are ‘usually’ used for active circuits and 250k for passive for pan controls……maybe don’t have a tone pot and go straight from the pickups?
tommorichards
If the pickups go directly to the blend pot, then your 250k blend pot shouldn't cause any issues as the output from it to the preamp would be the same as directly from the pickups.
