Stingray5 Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 (edited) Many excellent femme vox mentioned above (though, imho, they still don't come close to Joni!) But another fave of mine, not yet mentioned, is ANNIE LENNOX. Various bass players including at times producer Stephen Lipson. Steve Edited April 19, 2009 by Stingray5 Quote
4000 Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Karen Carpenter (bassist - no idea), the girls from ABBA (bassist Rutger Gunnarsson), Stevie Nicks (bassist in Fleetwood Mac John McVie, although her solo albums feature others), and another vote for the wonderful Kate Bush. Quote
Dr.Dave Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Another vote for Stevie Nicks - though I've always thought her more an artist than a craftsman. Quote
Cornfedapache Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Janis Joplin and Joni Mitchell. With a bit of Laura Nyro, Kate Bush, Sinead O'Connor, Bjork, Judy Collins and Mamma Cass thrown in... Bass player? Hmm... Jaco is a def fave.... So many to choose from though! Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I suppose from my angle,I'd put it down to the female voice I listen to the most. For me that would be Doro Pesch  Bass player to go with that? Billy Sheehan Quote

OutToPlayJazz Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 (edited) Well, of the famous ones, probably Diana Krall, Judith Owen, Belinda Carlisle & Jane Weidlin. But my personal faves are one of the singers who works for me from time to time, Nicki Allan from Leeds (Have a listen to her at www.myspace.com/outtoplayjazz ) & Anita Wardell. Look up Anita on myspace or iTunes. Her scatting voice is something else! The bass player in both cases, from time to time has been me Edited April 19, 2009 by OutToPlayJazz Quote
