xgsjx
This Alibaba ad popped up on my Facebook & made me chuckle. I’d love to see someone play this thing.
Woodinblack
There are quite a few youtube videos of such things if you want to see it!
Dad3353
Good luck getting decent intonation from the bridge adjusters.
yorks5stringer
Wonder if it is 38mm at the nut or 41mm? If it's 41mm then to wide for me....
lowdown
It will be interesting to see if @ambient makes a move on it....and then, rearrange those pickups with his Hammer & Chisel.
40hz
If only this were 16 strings (I no longer play 15) . . . . GLWTS

lemmywinks
Does anybody remember the one of these (Tennessee branded but just another AliExpress special) floating around on eBay a few years ago? The owner had tried to mod it into an acceptable instrument by throwing decent pickups and custom string sets at it but it was a total mess. Started off at some silly price and gradually got discounted to the point where it was probably worth it for the parts if you wanted a handy portable ironing board.

I had managed to forget about that. I hope the nightmares don’t start up again.

BassTractor
Apparently we're slow to forget. Must be something about the excruciating, ball-grabbing absurdity of it all - - one that just won't leave ya.
Woodinblack
Down to tuning though isn't it. It is only 3 more strings than a chapman grand stick, and that is easy enough to play
itu
You want to try flats, start saving.

From Mark's pics it should be evident they go to -34.6Hz. 😉

Remnants of the eBay auction on Worthpoint: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/tennessee-15-string-bass-guitar-532440190 "The strings are a various collection of brands running from .317 (needs to be thicker than that), .254, .232, .217, .184, .156, .135, .105, .080, .060, .032, .024, .014, .011 and .008. The tuning is F, A#, D#, G#, C#, F#, B, E, A, D, G, C, F, a# and d#. The bass pickups are active and are both Seymour Duncan" The seller tried to blag it with some waffling about sub-contrabass but everybody can tell it's a total mess. IIRC they got a bit tired of trolling messages and put the price up to something silly. Found another picture for @ambient, enjoy! The thickest and thinnest strings are over thin air instead of fretboard there, is it now a sub contra bass harp?
Owen
I am married to a harpist so am fully licensed to use and adapt harp jokes. You would spend 95% of your time tuning and 5% of your time playing out of tune.
