Seen them before Chris, fairly sure they were non export Japan but they crop up occasionally. That's a BIG price, but they are rare here.

I was expecting to see £5k or something crazy. As far as second hand Fenders go, particularly a rare one in lovely condition like that, I was surprised it's under £2k.

I've never seen one of those before, looks right up my street!

Thanks all, much appreciated, As per @uk_lefty post, yes considering what even bog standard US Precisions sell for used these days the price isn't too hefty really, I'm assuming the J-PUP is a modification?

I've seen a thinline MIJ Precision before, with a split pickup (which was very tasty) but not this one with a mudbucker.

Yep I had one, it was very nice but the pre-amp was something of an acquired taste

BG not exactly expansive in their descriptions are they 🤔

Their listings are almost uniformly terrible. Especially vintage basses where people need proper details

I'm also discouraged by the fact that the only time I bought from their website in the past I received a very unapologetic (note the 'un') email the following day indicating that the bass had sold already, despite the fact that their website had been very happy to take my cash anyway!

Is this Fender just saying "ha ha Gibson, look, we can even make an EB-3L better than you" ;)

Funny isn't it, Gibson crap at basses* but great acoustics, Fender.......

* Apologies to owner of Gibson basses but I've never found one I liked :(

It's really just the pickup placements and types that made me say that, coupled with the fact that this bass might stand a chance of balancing on a strap unlike a long scale EB/SG style.

That, my very chum, is an Explorerbird...this, on the other hand, is a Fenderbird...well, a Shukerbird, but pretty close... 😀

Well, I'm not sure about the colour, but John's definitely got his upper fret access sorted a bit better than I have... 🙁😀
