There are definitely more hideous basses out there though. Quote
msb Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Mid range on the ugly meter. More on the ugly side that just plain , but a far cry from wretchedly hideous. Wouldn’t be in a rush to use it in public. Quote

This new 'Soul' model doesn't look so elegant to me. The proportions just aren't quite right, giving it a slight 'melted by a hairdryer' look. 3 Quote

I could even live with the colour, although I think I'd prefer it in a dark red. Quote

They’re not common , but they’re out there. After some years of looking at them for sale everywhere but Canada , finally found one in Toronto for a good price. Quite jealous! I’ve always liked the look of these. Never seen one for sale though. Quote
msb Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 There’s always a couple in Tokyo. I looked at them for some years , didn’t want the bother of international shipping. I was also seeing the odd one in the UK , and Australia. Well worth picking up if you happen upon one. I was bugging the local Yamaha rep , they’re around , but don’t surface very often. 1 Quote

Relic discussions is an off-limits taboo topic over there because, in the past, every thread escalated into a flamewar....tb finally just outlawed the Relic topic 1 Quote

"The Dildo Trend" is the name of my Prog-Rock side project. But on a serious note... I've never been a fan of instruments with an image on. Or in this case, a bit of lovely, faux Jackson Pollock. They all look fantastic close up, but from any kind of distance longer than an arms length, the beautifully considered brushwork and elegance of line just end up looking like an amorphous grey splodge. "Amorphous Grey Splodge" is The Dildo Trend's new album, btw. Edited November 28, 2022 by rushbo 2 Quote
