Gnermo Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 (edited) Picked up a reasonably used F-bass today, the previous owner played in a lot of bands and used the bass extensively... Plays and sounds like a dream still, even with the pickup covers completely worn down The previous owner sent me a picture of what it used to look like in 2006, crazy how it was completely green all the way through. itu Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 Light coloured necks are not my thing, to be honest... but the bass still looks good. Some cleaning might help with the fretboard. Was the price right/very reasonable? Quote
Mrbigstuff Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 How weird that the finish has come off so easily. I’m guessing it wasn’t green from factory? I’d be tempted to take it all off and you’d have a lovely natural F bass. Quote
Doctor J Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 Lovely, reminds me of Doug Wimbish's 5 string Spector. It's genuine wear and tear, though, don't cheapen it by calling it a relic. It's the real deal. 2 Quote

Gnermo Posted September 24, 2022 Author Posted September 24, 2022 (edited) Oh yeah, it's all natural I think. The big green patch in the back is where tape used to be, to protect it from buckle rash. Clearly didnt work Anyone notice the hole in the pickup yet? Edited September 24, 2022 by Gnermo Quote
Chris2112 Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 I had read before that the F Bass finishes were thin and easily rubbed through but I'd never seen evidence of it before. It looks nicely played in to me and ripe for a few UZEB lines! Enjoy it! Quote
LukeFRC Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 What a find! I love a well loved bass Quote
mjscholten Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 Hey man, do you still have this bass? I am confident that there is a chance I actually played this bass when it was from the previous owner during an audition! If you ever consider selling it, please hit me up, I would be very interested! Quote

Shame, because it is one of the best basses i've ever played. Edited April 30, 2023 by Gnermo Quote
Chris2112 Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 It looked as though it had been well used. Enough, I'd say, that the original owner would be justified in going back to F Bass to buy another if he were going to get the same use from one again. What had gone wrong with the neck? Had it twisted over time? Quote

Had it twisted over time? The truss rod had been tightened too much and was digging a hole in the wood, almost to the point of coming out the other side. Something to do with the truss rod channel only reaching up to the third fret, and not all the way up iirc. Edited April 30, 2023 by Gnermo 1 Quote
