It's made me remember something... or maybe I i am imagining it. Please let me know. A reasonably renowned female singer of Latino music (can't remember the name) was due to appear on Later with Jools Holland. But something happened and she could not appear... but the all of the band did. So Mutya from the Sugababes filled in for the two(?) songs. And did a good job too. Anyone else remember it (google isn't helping)? Quote

lemmywinks Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 My favourite comment was "The last person I want to see do Ian Brown songs on karaoke is Ian Brown." 5 Quote
Skinny Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 George Michael covered one on tour but at least he used a band. Do we think this will start a budget trend? 1 Quote

A few gigs I've been to recently have had support acts with one or two members plus a laptop. Not headliners, as I would be unlikely to go to such a gig. So it does seem to be bubbling up. Quote
miles'tone Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 Ian Brown used to have a really good and loyal band for his (pre Stone Roses reunion) solo shows. Shame he's chosen not to put some work their way again. 1 Quote

No band at all, just backing tapes. He wasn't bad, really, but IMO this is not what I would call live music. A bit of an odd choice, especially as Flea later thanked the audience for supporting live music. Quote
Skinny Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Just to contradict myself, one half of that band, the one with the powerful voice I feel guilty watching..... Erm TaTu, she sounds good doing karaoke in small venues of their back catalogue. Quote
