Hello!

Well I thought after lurking on Basschat and perusing the marketplace for a few months in search of gear, I should introduce myself properly. I've been playing electric guitar for about 30 years now, and acoustic for 17. However, I've had a bit of a hiatus on playing for the past five years or so; just getting back into it now. I'm not in a band at the moment, but write and record my own music in my home studio - everything from orchestral through blues and reggae to prog metal. So I thought I'd add bass guitar to my repertoire (absolutely not, you understand, as an excuse for buying new and exciting gear...) 😉

My basses are a bubinga-bodied Dingwall Afterburner HS, an Ibanez EHB1506MS and a Hudson ProjectBass 6 string, and I just acquired a Mesa M3 Carbine 1x12 combo to make them heard. Really happy with the range of tones I can get with this setup - it covers everything I need and then some. I'm still very much a guitarist learning bass technique so have some way to go, but am enjoying it immensely!

I look forward to joining in on the forum!

Cheers,

David

Thanks guys for the welcome!

Yes I may be starting out with gear beyond my ability, but I was able to move on some of my electric guitars/kit to raise funds and make way. And particularly after my experience of time/effort/gas trading up acoustic guitars over several years, thought I would short circuit that. At least now it's all down to me, I can't blame the gear!

I'm too late this month but I will definitely try an entry to the monthly composition challenge - looks great! And yes I'll check out the SE Bass Bash too.

Cheers!

David
