Chris Cross - Ultravox

Saw Ultravox play last night in Bristol. Was one hell of a good show. I do think imop that Chris Cross is an underestimated bassist, was a pleasure watching him play. Mind you as musicians go, Billie Currie is both an amazing keyboard player and violinist. Anyone else out there seen their latest tour?

his basslines were a lot more upfront in the John Foxx era eg. "dangerous rhythm" "I want to be a machine", but "reap the wild wind" from the Midge Ure era is a great line.

Have to agree with that choice.
I saw them in Manchester last week and it was a ridiculously good show.

I saw them in glasgow on the second night of the return to eden tour and they were excellent (particuarly some of the album tracks off the Rage In Eden album).
I like his playing when he plays but even by Systems of Romance he was using the MiniMoog instead on at least half an album which maybe makes him not stand out in any way (obviously not a bad thing being a bassplayer).
He always was a good backing vocalist as well imo

They are in Brighton tomorrow but couldn't find anyone to go with ...what makes it worse is that an old schoolmate of mine emailed to tell me how good they were in Cardiff

I always loved the bass in "When the scream subsides"
