I'm a massive fan of 80s post-punk and A Forest is one of the top 5 tunes from the era. Also Sound of Silence is my fave S & G tune and the Disturbed cover is a total travesty Edited October 4, 2022 by Barking Spiders Quote
Barking Spiders Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 I particularly loathe these two acclaimed covers of two fave TFF songs of mine 3 Quote

Mykesbass Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 There is, in my opinion, a sublime to the ridiculous couple of covers of one song, Hallelujah. Sublime; Jeff Buckley. Ridiculous; Alexandra Burke. I do have to admire Simon Cowell's chutzpah in creating such a dreadful version of a song that contains the line 'but you don't really care for music, do you?' 3 Quote
SteveXFR Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 I like Deftones but this cover of Simple Man is utter crap Quote

Buddster Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 There's an awful lots of bad covers, but my personal hate is Diddys cover of Every Breath You Take. A travesty of a cover, destroyed any sentiment in the original. 1 Quote
Reggaebass Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 I wondered how long it would be before UB40 got mentioned 🙄, some of their covers were better than the originals imo Quote
Grimalkin Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 30 plus covers of cloying, over-smaltzification. So sugary you'd get chubby listening to it. https://secondhandsongs.com/artist/11086/covers 1 Quote
redbandit599 Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 (edited) This horribly twee version exists on a Christmas compilation that my wife has. It makes me shout obscenities as soon as Ronan starts...then Moya chimes in and makes it worse... Edited October 5, 2022 by redbandit599 Quote

As much as I like Eric Clapton’s output and respect how it’s evolved over the years, have to say I like his covers least, particularly during his ‘70’s “reggae” phase. Quote
SteveXFR Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 I can't decide whether this is terrible or brilliant. It's definitely one extreme or the other Quote

A bit twee for the message, with lashings of ginger beer. 1 Quote
paul_5 Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 I disagree. It’s a given that anyone taking on Bowie tracks is always going to contentious, but there are far, far worse from that album. 1 Quote

Granted, it probably isn’t the worst cover version I’ve ever heard, but I just can’t listen to it. As soon as the vocal starts, it’s game over for me! 😀 Quote

I actually believe that Motörhead’s cover of Enter Sandman is worse. 1 Quote
