jmccullo
Hi - I'm restoring a 1960 EB0 bass, the model with 4 banjo-type tuners. My question is: what direction do these tuners turn on an original? Do all 4 turn anti-clockwise to tighten the string or do the top 2 turn clockwise and the bottom 2 turn anti-clockwise? Thanks in advance for your insights -John
3below
A very nice bass you have there. FWIW my EB2 of the same era had reverse winding cloverleafs, all four worked the opposite way to modern variants. Hopefully someone here will have one and be able to give you a definitive answer. BigRedX
On a Firebird with banjo tuners they all turn in the same direction, but that is 6 in-line. To me it would feel natural to have all 4 machine heads turn the same way to tune even on a 2+2 arrangement. Is that possible with the mechanisms used? Also with it being Gibson, what is logical isn't necessarily what was produced...
