Hutton
I am told that it is extremely difficult to fit a Dunlop straplock to a thick leather bass strap like the offering from Fender. Has anyone got any experience of this?
chris_b
Who told you that? Mine fitted my thick leather straps, no problem. Dunlop should be able to tell you the maximum thickness it will take.

It's about 1/8" or about 4mm thick. https://www.harvest-guitar.com/en/Buffalo-Silverado.html Unless your strap is extra thick, you should be fine.
chris_b
Did you know the Allparts strap locks are rebadged Dunlops at a much lower cost. . . . although I've just found some Dunlops on Amazon which are slightly cheaper than All parts. I guess it's best to Shop around. Edited October 10, 2022 by chris_b
Petey
I have a Harvest strap and they are really great straps. The Dunlop strap locks fit them no problem - a little fiddly if its your first time but worth the time n effort. Thicker s taps can be a problem and I ended up taking my VERY thick Carlino strap to a shoe repairers who fitted the Dunlops locks to them.
NancyJohnson
Never had issue on any strap depth (so far)...the only ballache is where the strap hole is too small.
