fretmeister Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Tis a great tune and I fancy learning it. Standard Notation would be ideal - I need to practice reading anyway. ta Quote
Bilbo Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Just be aware that the famous solo slapping lick in the middle was played by the bass player and then the engineer flipped the tape so the second half of the lick is the first half playing backwards. You can't play it as it is because it wasn't as it sounds!! Quote
fretmeister Posted April 20, 2009 Author Posted April 20, 2009 I read that somewhere I think! There must be a way.... Quote
bluesparky Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I got it if you want it. It's a scan from an old bass mag. PM if you want it. Quote
bluesparky Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 BTW as for the famous reverse bit in the middle (it was the bass player's birthday present from Paul Simon if i remember correctly) the version I have, has the fill transcribed as heard. Quote
casapete Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 You could try this - www.youtube.com/watch?v=N51LoewE175 The bassist plays the solo, then it is shown at how its done at a number of slower tempos. I know because its on my list of stuff to learn too!! Good luck. Quote

Have a look on YouTube and see if it's there. Quote

andyonbass Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 (edited) Check out this clip with BK doing the solo, its about 3.45, and again at about 4.37 and the cameraman actually catches some of it! Edited April 20, 2009 by andyonbass Quote
risingson Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Although that middle bass break is claimed to be impossible to recreate, Bakithi does a damn good job doing it anyway. Check Bakithi Kumalo out at bassplayer.tv and prepare to be amazed... Quote
