Barking Spiders
The thread on Stuart Zender got me briefly thinking about respected bassists whose reps are based on a small body of work. In his case it's mainly the first 3 Jamiroquai albums. There are a few other personal faves who didn't actually record much e.g. Michael Dempsey - really just the first two Cure albums plus Fourth Drawer Down and Sulk by The Associates Deon Estus - Wham's three and George Michael's first 2 solo albums. Stuart Morrow - New Model Army's first 2 albums and ....that's it! Derek Forbes - with Simple Minds 'when they were good ' period up to Sparkle in The Rain (half a dozen albums) over to youse.... chris_b
Reggie McBride, was with Stevie Wonder before Nate Watts. I first noticed him in the early days of Keb Mo's recording Career. Fantastic bass player. Apart from THAT solo, Willie Weeks has flown under the radar for a long time. Another fantastic player.

I wouldn't say that Willie Weeks has a small body of work. Munurmunuh
Saw the title, came to say, Stuart Morrow, ah yes there he is in the OP. Er, how about Craig Logan? Just the one album 😬
Vin Venal
I mean obviously there's Cliff Burton, cuz he dead. Do dead people count? He's on three albums and most people still think of him as the god of metal bass.

Old Man Riva
Segs from The Ruts. Just one proper album (The Crack) but his playing is superb throughout. There was also a track (Demolition Dancing) recorded after the debut album that hinted at further excellent things to come, where his bass is just this driving relentless tour de force. One of my favourite players. Him and Ruffy were a fabulous rhythm section… Could also add Horace Panter and Norman Watt Roy - more than the one album, but still a relatively small body of work? Mykesbass
Nick Fyffe - the 'other' Jamiroquai bass player who was great in Temperance Movement - two very different sounding bands.
Doctor J
Roger Patterson - one recorded album and a handful of demos Doug Keyser - two albums, an EP and some demos

cetera
Martin Tiefensee of German band 'Lake'. Fantastic player. Three albums with the band and a few minor German sessions and that was it. Ron Anaman of US Pomp Rock band 'Trillion'. Lovely feel and style. Two albums with the band and then off into obscurity.
Tim2291
Does Lee Sklar count? Technically his work with each artist has been a small body of work... collectively it's a mental amount though!
StickyDBRmf
Scott LaFaro. Tragically short life. First time I heard the Bill Evans Trio and his playing I forgot to breathe and almost died.

miles'tone
Nick Oliveri from Queens Of The Stone Age. They are still a great band but they definitely lost more than their bass player when Nick was sacked.
