Ralf1e Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 Strange question maybe but does anyone have any knowledge of any bass players who ever used bottleneck. Quote

I might have to set up a bass with a nice curve over the strings and explore tuning s but it could be worth it. They wont know the difference where I play but it could be used to great effect on softer songs. Now where is that bass I had to lower the action bye 1/4 inch got to 🤣 Edited October 20, 2022 by Ralf1e after thought Quote

Frank Blank Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 There is a documentary on YouTube about Morphine from their origin until their tragic end... 2 Quote
mr4stringz Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Morphine and Sandman absolutely slayed. The fact they’re so largely overlooked and unknown all these years later is nowt short of criminal in my book. So bravo to the OP for unwittingly seeking out the magnificence of Morphine. 4 Quote
miles'tone Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 Brian Ritchie of Violent Femmes does a nice little bottle neck solo during the song Faith (ffw to 18.50) here on this live vid. Always meant to give it a go. Thanks for reminding me! Quote
Wolfram Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 I made a bass slide from solid tungsten carbide a few years ago. It was a monstrous 250g in weight, and sounded superb - that mass really engages with those heavy, wound strings for a good strong, clear tone. I still have it around somewhere - I'd completely forgotten about it until I saw this thread. I must search it out and try it again. Quote
fretmeister Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 Me! I’ve got a heavy brass one that sounds ace. 2 Quote
