asingardenof
I see the Fender Mod Shop has come to the UK at last: https://www.fender.com/en-GB/mod-shop.html?rl=en_US. £1949 as a base price for basses... 3 1
bartelby
I've been having a look at it. It's really basic. You can't even change hardware colour...
asingardenof
Yeah, you're basically just paying through the nose to have a USA Fender in a non-standard colour scheme.

Cato
It's about £300 more than a pro ii. The Strat and Tele options are a fair bit more interesting than the bass ones, which are rather limited in terms of pick up choice. If this had been an option when I was buying a pro ii Strat last year I'd probably have done it because the options allow me to put together pretty much my dream guitar. Not sure I'd want to pay the extra for a pretty standard passive Jazz bass, albeit one in a very pretty colour scheme. I'm sure others will be up for it though. Lw.
Saw this the other day - the pull business model is what they should be doing so it's good they've released this, they just don't seem to have implemented it very well. E.g. - why aren't all the colour options available? Matching headstocks, switch of J vs P neck, reverse or lollipop tuners etc... Maybe it'll come in time, in the mean time I think/know I'll be spending my money elsewhere (on a Fender style bass too).

The options are the same as the US site which has had the Mod Shop for years - it’s super basic when it comes to basses. Shame really as the concept of making customisation accessible without paying Custom Shop £ is genius.

Guest
I guess they can’t offer more than alternative colours, body wood and neck wood because it would steal sales at a much lower price than their silly money custom shop. On the flip side, at least you get the opportunity to pick from 43 colours instead of the usual 3-5. However, you won’t be able to return it if it’s a dog
Geek99
I don’t think blocks are a big deal to want on a jazz bass neck when you’re paying that kind of money Edited October 24, 2022 by Geek99
mattbass6
I really like this idea. It would make me look at Fender again, if I ever required/wanted one. I do like that more companies are doing this. I just spec’d up a P bass for fun, and it came in at just over £300 more than a USA P Ultra I bought (and sold) in 2020. My only wish would be that they would add the option of a 21 or 24 fret neck. Still, I like this a lot ☺️
rhysyjob
I just spec’d up a Sonic Blue PJ with a Rosewood neck and got a bit unnecessary… Then I took myself outside had a word with myself and equilibrium has been restored. Actually I quite like it, whether it’s worth the money is completely up to the person and the value they put on having something bespoke. There’s a lot of completion out there….. ✌🏼Rhys

The answer is there ,they want Custom shop in there too ,plus they want their various tribute or limited models released every now and then with block inlays and extra pick ups and bridges etc . Given you can get a tasty Squier for entry money right up to CS models i think they are doing ok in tough times .Pick your level and go for it . I've had Usa Geddys (average) genuine 70s Jazz's (great) MIJ reissues (average) and two random Mex ,both brilliant
Jean-Luc Pickguard
What they really need for the mod shop is the option of a great big headstock with a bite taken out of it.
Ian McFly
to whom it may concern! Good thing I ordered mine last week, otherwise it wouldn’t arrive on time for my 40th
