Cheap Octave

I very sparingly use octave and have on original OC-2 and an Octamizer but in an ever increasing urge to cram more stuff on my mini board I’ve bought one of these Sonicake Octavers, £25!

Sonicake has usually been pretty good stuff. Used to be Valeton and their OC2 clone was a cracking pedal.

Are they something to do with Valeton? I had a Dapper and it was great.

As far as I know Sonicake bought Valeton out a couple of years ago. The Valeton OC10 was a copy of the Boss OC2 and was a cracking pedal. Valeton had 2 lines of pedals; the Coral line were digital I believe and the Loft line were analogue Boss clones. I may well be wrong about that but that's how it appeared to me. I would imagine the Sonicake pedals are digital but you'd need to check that out for yourself. EDIT; Youtube clips say it's an anologue pedal (and it sounds pretty damn good too).

I’ve just received mine

Initial impressions are pretty good. I’ll try it out tomorrow at a rehearsal and report back.

I was impressed by the build quality but haven’t used it yet!

After reading the original posts I thought I'd try the Sonicake too. It's on the board and sounding good at home. I have yet to use it live but so far so good.

I tried the Sonicake briefly at a rehearsal last night and my initial impression was very good. It was easy to slip into  Dalek noises if the octave knobs were two high, but for a more subtle, and in the context of the stuff we were playing, more usable sound I had it set somewhere like this attached. First time I’ve used an octaver but seems a good deal for 27 quid and looks well made enough.
