As all the hardware and electronics seem to have been changed, it looks like all that's 'original' is the neck and the body. The front of the headstock is an odd shade, which could mean it's been stripped to change the decal.

It would be a pass for me. You could get a late 1970s one for about the same price in much better condition.

It might sound great, it might be great to play or an absolute dog. Just on looks it would be a no from me though. The pristine whiteness of the pickguard looks out of place with the rest of the bass to me.

not many original parts which would put me off but that’s just my preference 🙂, if they accepted a pretty cheeky offer it would be worth spending some money to get it how you want , I quite like the wear and the pickups might be original ?

Looking at the 'People who also viewed this item' led me to this.

Slightly newer, £100 more expensive but in much better condition. Has a jazz pickup fitted but this is a fairly common mod. Heavy lump though at 11lbs but I think I would pick that one instead.

Yeah, have spotted that one, weight and added pickup would be a no from me. I’m only lightly looking really, unlikely I’ll have the funds for a while haha.

Apart from the obvious changes of the bridge, scratchplate and abominable tuners, what's the rest looking like to people?

Apart from the tuners that look completely out of place, I think that it looks fine for a 73 P bass. I would probably change the scratchplate as well as the tuners, but the price isn't too bad.

I would want to check the date stamp on the neck / body and the serial number, just to be sure.

… on a related (ish) theme - early 70s P Basses - Stacey’s have a music and entertainment auction scheduled for next Tuesday. According to the catalogue there’s a ‘74 Precision listed.

Not sure how these things work but thought it worth a mention.

It sold about 20 minutes ago for £1300, you have to add approximately 30% commission to that

I looked at it, but didn’t have the weight listed, and didn’t mention about the state of the truss rod etc. I’m not in a rush. Great price if it’s solid though!

Yeah, I didn’t have time to go and look ,so I enquired about what was original and if the truss rod was ok but they couldn’t give a definite answer , someone might have got a bargain
