I was bored. So, I decided to refinish one of my Jazz Basses.

Nitrocellulose lacquer used.

I'm quite pleased with the end result.

That looks lovely. Did you do the refinish yourself? I almost did a strat body myself last year, but I decided it was not worth it in the end and bought a replacement body already finished in nitro. It’s still a skill I’d like to have.

That's beautiful! 😍

I have a Squier Jazz body that I sprayed Fiesta Red back in 2018... and I haven't finished it yet

This is giving me some motivation, as it was a great sounding bass too!

I need to sand a few irregular bits and spray a few more coats still, 'though, so it'll have to wait until the weather gets warmer and less humid again as I don't have a good place to do the spraying bit. What I did, I did in a small garden shed... which looked like I had butchered someone after I was done :D

Your refinishes are superb Kevin, love them all.

Here's my "refinish" effort, it's a home-built P bass, the body was originally sunburst which I purchased from Northwest Guitars, Mighty Mite neck with Fender Am Std Tuners, Fender Custom Shop 62 pickup, and ObsidianWire Solder-less harness.

I stripped the sunburst back to bare wood and used spray cans from Northwest Guitars, the finish isn't perfect, and slightly flat, but I like it because it looks a little bit aged.

Was it hard doing the fender label positioning? Did you gloss over it?

Did you do the whole neck (like clear on the back) or just the headstock?

I assume this was done using rattle cans? Looks great!

I did my MIA jazz years ago with nitro spray cans and it also came out killer! I am dying to do another right now. You might have just put me over the top!

Hello. Do you do refinishes for other people, or just on your own basses? Cheers.

He often does refins on other people's basses, but without telling them. He likes the look on their face when they find out. :|
