Al Krow Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Harley Benton Valuestrings Bass 45-105 Actually under £5 for the strings themselves, but then need to add P&P on top. But still works at two sets costing < £20 or under a £tenner each. Anyone tried them and liked / disappointed? Quote
Chaddy Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Warwick red labels aren't too shabby for the pricearound £8.60 for a set in the UK. I destroy strings from sweat, Even the "nano" ones hardly last even with a clean. 2 Quote
Hellzero Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 I did try them @Al Krow and they are really excellent strings especially considering the price. Strangely, the fiver set is deep dire... Quote
NHM Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 I had a set of Warwick Reds on a Rockbass and they sounded really good (I thought better than the black labels that I swapped them for) 3 Quote
MungoBass Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 I have tried the HB flats and they were pretty good but don’t know about the rounds, although I have an unopened set of the value 40-95s! I have used the Warwick Red Labels and don’t think you can go too far wrong with those. I also have a couple of unopened sets of these! I think I need to buy some more basses so I can restring them! Do you think the wife will see through my plan?!?! 5 Quote
Sweeneythebass Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) I’m thinking of buying an HB 5string and a set of HB flats to go with it (£15! Worth it to qualify for free postage!) anyone with experience of the HB 5 string flats? Tension/tone etc Edited March 10, 2023 by Sweeneythebass Typo Quote
police squad Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 I've got a set of Johnny brook nickel rounds on an old bass collection £6.99 delivered they seem fine so far 1 Quote
StingRayBoy42 Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Harley Benton stuff all seems to be ridiculously cheap and really well regarded - presumably a combination of Thomann's purchasing power and Quality Control? For that sort of price, I'll be chucking a few sets into my next Thomann order. The Adagio flats can be had for about £17 and they're pretty good - they were my gateway drug to LaBella DTFs. Quote
TheGreek Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I had a look at both the HB and the Adagio flats and assumed they'd both be rubbish. I may chance my arm at under £20 Quote

TheGreek Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I can't find any 5 string sets - are they available? Quote
Reggaebass Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Just now, TheGreek said: I can't find any 5 string sets - are they available? I’ve never seen them in 5 , think I paid £10 or less for mine at the time Quote

King Tut Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I’ve just chucked a couple of sets of the value nickel rounds into a Thomann order. I’ve used Legacy strings for a while but recently strung a couple with Elixirs that I’m loving. I’ll see how well they last and if they’re as good as they’re supposed to be I might use those on the basses I play most. Quote
