Reggaebass Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 (edited) This looks like the same bass maybe ? with the cut pickguard, also looks like a pretty slim neck Edited December 5, 2022 by Reggaebass Quote
danweb22 Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Apparently his mum bought it for him when he was 14 https://www.talkbass.com/threads/what-is-adam-clayton-playing.1538914/ Quote

WillyPete Posted December 6, 2022 Author Posted December 6, 2022 Thanks folks. Yes that’s it then. I couldn’t see it on equipboard or anything unless it’s hidden in the comments. Quote
Reggaebass Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 (edited) I don’t know much about him but I like finding out about the basses, there’s a list of some of his instruments on gear.tripod , https://u2-atomic-adam-gear.tripod.com/adam_bass.html Edited December 6, 2022 by Reggaebass Quote
Linus27 Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 I believe its just a 72 Precision that has a Jazz neck on it. Its not his first bass or basses he owned but certainly from early in his career. The pickguard was either broken or cut deliberately. Quote

As BRX says he used an Ibby and I think he had a Ric as well that he bought but I have never seen him with it. He sold the Ibby to Neil McCormack the writer who he was pals with. He tried to buy it back but NM had butchered it! Edited December 6, 2022 by jezzaboy 1 Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Doesn't look like a Fender headstock! Quote
Geek99 Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 He regularly swaps necks on it - had a 51p neck on it at one point. It is a jazz neck as he says it’s more lady-like (his words) the pickguard was cut and it has one of those metal musician style plates for the controls Quote
