Odd warbling sound from bass?

I’m getting a warbling almost chorus type sound on my G string when playing above the 12th fret on my shorty p bass.

It’s got brand new La Bella DTF on it.

 

Any ideas? It’s quite annoying!

Twisted string maybe, or have you tried lowering the G side pickup slightly

Lower your pickup.

Can you hear it acoustically, or just via the pickup?

 

If it's the latter, see above posts. If it's the former, it might be a badly cut nut, the string not low enough on the string tree, or a spring resonating in the bridge.

I’ve had that and fortunately in my case it was pickup height so easily dealt with.

I’ve had this - it’s was a pickup height problem.

Lowering the pickup solved it.

Which is annoying as I wanted to use it for a bit of a ramp.

 

Might have to make a couple of plastic pickup toppers to get the height back!
