what scale/type/brand of strings can I use on my Vintage 1960s Burns Sonic Red Tri Sonic Electric Bass Guitar?

Thanks.

The hole that receives the string in the machine head is thinner than normal machine heads. Also, the distance between the nut and first machine head is quite small (low E string). It’s seems that the strings for this bass must have been quite specific.

My suggestion would be to contact Newtone strings and have a chat. They will make whatever you want/need and are very reasonable price wise.

This.

If your bass is a short scale Burns Sonic Bass, pretty much any of of their short-scale strings will fit. They also made the only strings that ever gave me a decent note out of the low E on my Burns.
