bussonetthebass Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Hi folks.. I recently acquired a new Ibanez SRMD200 medium scale bass (32") and am looking to replace the factory fitted strings. From a little googling there doesnt seem to be that many choices. Can anyone recommend a suitable length brand/model? I'm in UK. Thanks Quote
BigRedX Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Get in touch with Newtone and they should be able to make you what you want. 2 Quote

fretmeister Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 I have 3 of these basses. 2 four strings and a five. The design of the headstock and the spacing from nut to tuner means that on the 4 string bass you can use normal long scale bass strings. The stock ones are D'addario. It's only on the 5 string that a dedicated medium scale B is needed. 1 Quote
LeftyJ Posted December 14, 2022 Posted December 14, 2022 I can't comment on the use of actual medium scale basses, but I have a medium scale set on my shortscale Atelier Z Baby Z-4J, which has a string-through-body option. I have DR Sunbeams on it, 045-105. They feel and sound surprisingly tight on that bass, with plenty of zing. Quote
