Instrument in question appears decidedly ill looking to my eye, very pale & shiny and a little off centre? Certainly doesn't look like a quality instrument compared to what you can pick up for the same cash on eBay

Despite the 'storied' background of the UK company, that Bass looks very much of generic far eastern manufacture, it has to be at that price!

It's their company & they'll make up any stories they want!

 

They have 4 of these for sale, for some reason the P/J variant's significantly cheaper.

Yes, the PJ one must be heavier due to the bigger pick up and they charge more for the postage.
