Been going through my Level 42 concerts on dvd and does anyone else think Mark was clucking blitzed to the tits on these 80s gigs. He's chewing his face off and has unusual amounts of  exuberance.

This thread will tell you everything you need to know... or will it?

Where's @Bean9seventy when you need him?

It was a bit of a trippy one, I would have forgotten all about it if you hadn't provided the flashback.

At first flashbacks are occasional, after a while they become inevitable. Eventually they're all you have.

I'm inclined to think the OP has a point.

The subject matter of Level 42 songs, do not betray a persistent penchant for Percy.

Unless "Heaven in My Hands", was indeed written after a score breaking a long dry spell.

Perhaps the hokey cokey really is what it's all about...

Hmmm..."keep it in the family" suggests that we should ask his brother.

If only this thread had been posted a week or so ago - just saw him playing in Edinburgh with the magnificent Frost*. [/irrelevantproganecdote]

If you look at most of the "heros" they were all snorters really. Especially slappers. I read a book about ww2 being won on meth. Same thing really. Makes you think.

It might all have been the intensity of the performance.Seriously, this can happen.

Many years ago I did a gig with a band I’d been in, got asked to stand in. After the gig a guy I knew asked what I was on as my performance was apparently quite good. Nothing, other than a few pints of lager, I was just chuffed to be doing a gig again and put my all into it.

All that said tho, I reckon MK was like Tony Montana in Scarface, head in a pile of it.

King of the Isle of Wight. Nabbing a Jaydee and uttering, "Say hello to my little friend..."

I just went back and re-read that thread.

Nope, no idea.    Again.

Mark King was well known for enjoying a particularly potent brand of Horlicks before a show.
