YouMa Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 (edited) Been going through my Level 42 concerts on dvd and does anyone else think Mark was clucking blitzed to the tits on these 80s gigs. He's chewing his face off and has unusual amounts of exuberance. Edited December 12, 2022 by YouMa 2 Quote
TheGreek Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 People taking drugs in the 80s?? Who would have believed it?? 3 Quote
Grimalkin Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 So you think Mr. King has been living it up on the Charlie then? I'm not sure, but I do have an inkling that my cat may have been on the Meow Meow lately. Quote
yorks5stringer Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Why not ask him, he's a member here as 'Slapthatbassuntil'moffmyt*ts' ? Quote
YouMa Posted December 12, 2022 Author Posted December 12, 2022 He would never admit it. I'm pretty experienced in various powders and Mark were you off your tits in the early days? Lol. Quote
YouMa Posted December 12, 2022 Author Posted December 12, 2022 Saying that if I didn't think it might kill me now I wouldn't have stopped. Quote
YouMa Posted December 12, 2022 Author Posted December 12, 2022 Him and Bernard though.... Just phenomenal. Quote

At first flashbacks are occasional, after a while they become inevitable. Eventually they're all you have. I'm inclined to think the OP has a point. Quote
Grimalkin Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 The subject matter of Level 42 songs, do not betray a persistent penchant for Percy. Unless "Heaven in My Hands", was indeed written after a score breaking a long dry spell. Perhaps the hokey cokey really is what it's all about... Quote
Cato Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 A quick google search brough up this interview https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/level-42s-mark-king-running-16482167 “Yeah, there were a lot of drugs but I’m quite a speedy person and never enjoyed it that much" Quote
TheGreek Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Hmmm..."keep it in the family" suggests that we should ask his brother. Quote

YouMa Posted December 12, 2022 Author Posted December 12, 2022 If you look at most of the "heros" they were all snorters really. Especially slappers. I read a book about ww2 being won on meth. Same thing really. Makes you think. Quote
Lozz196 Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 It might all have been the intensity of the performance.Seriously, this can happen. Many years ago I did a gig with a band I’d been in, got asked to stand in. After the gig a guy I knew asked what I was on as my performance was apparently quite good. Nothing, other than a few pints of lager, I was just chuffed to be doing a gig again and put my all into it. All that said tho, I reckon MK was like Tony Montana in Scarface, head in a pile of it. PaulThePlug Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 I'd love to see a Lemmy / King Bass-Off! Quote
2elliot Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 He's been known to do a bit of Class D now and again... I'll get me coat😉 2 Quote

King of the Isle of Wight. Nabbing a Jaydee and uttering, "Say hello to my little friend..." 1 Quote
TheGreek Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 I was watching Duran Duran on TV recently and they did a version of "White Lines (don't do it)"....appropriate for a band renowned for doing loads. Quote

Guest Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Mark King was well known for enjoying a particularly potent brand of Horlicks before a show. Quote
