warwickhunt
Cheap Trick performed at Reading in 79 and Tom played this bass but I wondered if anyone knew what model it was? It is vaguely J shaped, has a single pup and a J style bell plate but it is a puzzle. Sorry for that bad pic but it was the best capture from some live youtube footage. warwickhunt
Watching the video again, I actually think the pup is a split jobbie rather than a J.

Cato
In some ways it was ahead of it's time. They were designed to be tuned E-C the idea being that users could play across the neck rather than move their hands up and down the neck. But because Fender didn't think anyone would need to play up the neck anymore, they only gave it 15 frets. You have to wonder if they'd gone with 20 frets or more it might actally have caught on. Kickass
I was there! Don't remember the bass but do remember being horrified at Rick bouncing a guitar down his steps. It didn't do what he wanted so he did it a second time!
