-1. Kind of. I’m not sure yet.

My nephew has been showing interest in playing bass so I loaned him my bitsa-jazz (Squier Affinity body, MiM roasted maple neck, badass bridge and 70’s p’ups so light and punchy). If he shows interest he can have it.

I think the deal I’ll make is he can keep it as long as he wants and if he decides to get something else I’ll buy it back (it’s worth so little and it’d be hard for him to sell anyway).

the only other purchase has been an EBS Neoline 212 with blown drivers. I’ve reached out to EBS who say they’ll have replacement units in a couple of weeks.

1-1=0

A headless shortscale in (Ibanez EHB1000S)

An Encore P-Bass out.

I’m not really sure that the Encore counts as it was returned to it’s original owner after about a decade with me.  It wasn’t getting played and I had a couple of options for it: pimping it (giving it a yellow and black swirl pickguard and a new pup) or giving it to a mate who was thinking of starting to play.  The original owner said he would like the neck to turn it into a fretless. So I said he could have it. He offered me money for it.  I looked at him a tad puzzled and had to remind him he had loaned it to me (he’d forgotten).

The upside is that as the headless can’t hang on the wall, there is room for one more.

With hindsight, I shouldn't have used the words bought and sold. Something meaning arrivals and departures would have been better — which basses joined you, which basses left you.

So for sure your Encore counts, for me :) (whereas my LB-100 — paid for in full in August but still unbuilt — does not)

I am too ignorant to turn that list into a x-y=z sum for your basses, but I'm enjoying the pretty collage, thank you :D

Totally forgot a bass I had and sold in 2022:

bass collection 310.

I was just catching up on this and was about to remind you about that one.

I'll add my list tomorrow when I have access to my SQL database.

OK here it goes. The total for me is amazingly only +1.

It seems a lot, but I enjoy finding bargains and rejuvenating/fixing faulty instruments to move along again. I am quite sure 2023 will be calmer (see you in the gear abstinence thread) but i'm sure there will be a few. Hopefully sub 8.

What I have left is very good stuff, i've changed the pickups in the BBG4 to Seymour Duncan SPB-3s and it's now absolutely stonking. Also have a Delano preamp to fit to the RBX6JM which should make me happier with it. The 2 Dingwalls are my 'band instruments' and everything else is for home messing about.

TOTAL OUT: 19

TOTAL IN: 18

Out only:

Yamaha BB415
Spector Euro LX4
RedSub Coliseum 6
Tobias Toby Pro 4
Yamaha RBXJM2
Yamaha RBX375
Cort GB95

In and out again:

Vintage VJ74
Spector Euro LX5
Ibanez ATK200
Sire V5
Ibanez SRFF800
Ibanez SR705
Ibanez EHB1505
Harley Benton MB-4
Dingwall NG-2 5 (Orange)
LTD Viper 254FM
Yamaha BB425X
Teisco 1490

In only:
Yamaha RBX6JM
Dingwall D-Roc 5
Yamaha BBG4
Dingwall NG-3 5 (Aqua)
Ibanez Roadster RS900
Yamaha RBX775
