TheGreek
Just spent the last hour or so trying to order a 5 string tapewound set. I can't find anything - nobody seems to have a 5er set in stock. No tapewound strings available from Status website currently either - you could always rely on Dawn to save the day (email sent). I'm particularly looking for a Warwick set which sell for £30ish (4 string) - NOT including the £19 P&P from Thomann. I've even emailed Warwick - (cap in hand) to ask why they aren't available. In the end I had to order a 65-115 set and an individual .50 in a different brand. Does anybody know why this might be (other than the global conspiracy to annoy me and waste my time)? Beer of the Bass
Low B or High C? I suspect the larger gauge tapewound low B strings just might not work very well - I had a D'addario set a while ago and liked the EADG strings, but the low B was really muddy and indistinct, and I ended up using a roundwound low B with them. Jakester
Hi Mick, I found (and @Smanth put me on to) these Rotosounds: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rotosound-Standard-Flatwound-Strings-65-135/dp/B0002GO1QQ/ Took a punt and will report back. They certainly seem the only widely available set for less than the cost of a kidney or so.

Many of my 5ers have 4 string set with an added low B - no complaints so far. The issue is supply, not performance.
