Baloney Balderdash
Maybe a sudden realization that if you don't have sufficient fine motor skills to control how deep your fingers dig into the strings, then you might have some issues, beyond what a ramp attached to the body of your bass under the strings can fix, that needs medical attention. tauzero
I've got a ramp on my Sei Flamboyant 5 which I could take off but it doesn't seem to affect my playing either way. I also have a ramp for my Ibanez EHB which is sitting on my desk and will probably remain there.
Owen
Still liking mine. I even have a little rampesque thing at the end of my fingerboard. You are correct, it is not a bass for slap. But I have not slapped in anger for..... I am not sure if I ever have.
fleabag
Had one on my Peavey C4 - a nice lump of solid 8mm Ebony. Used more as a thumb rest than anything else

Chris2112
I do like how ramps help you fingers to 'float' over the strings. It's a simple concept that has quite a dramatic effect on playing. They'd be useful for some players who dig in a lot without meaning to and waste a lot of energy doing so. That and the last time I played a bass with a ramp fitted, the strings would hit it when slapping (it was matched to the pickups but just slightly taller). I've never felt the need to fit one myself.
