Precision pick up wiring

Should be a simple question, I think. 

 

Dropping these SD QPs in to a 5 string. 

 

Is the hot and ground now combined in one wire? I'm used to two separate wires!

Your hot is inside the white sleeve. The earth is the currently exposed copper.

Thought so, thanks. Is this a new thing, both in the same wire?

Nope, some manufacturers have both cores in one wire, others run two separate wires. Just depends on the manufacturer.
