lidl e Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 I found one fella in the US who makes them custom, but are they not a thing? Quote
MichaelDean Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 I don't think they are a thing. As it mounts directly to the body, a ring isn't usually needed unless the route isn't shaped nicely, in which case it might be easier/look better to do a whole pickguard. I reckon someone would be able to knock one up for you though if you needed it. Try Brian: https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/earlpilanz 1 Quote

I was thinking that, but i am still unsure of hiw these things work! Do i have to send like cad drawings or some technical document to make sure its correct? Would they come out smooth? Quote
lidl e Posted January 18, 2023 Author Posted January 18, 2023 Look at this lads, i sent my friend the dimensions and he output me an stl file which i then brought to the library and was able to 3D print a prototype for free to check for fit! If it wasnt red, it would be almost perfect! This isnt the bass i am making these for, just checking the fit on different MM pickups 1 Quote
lidl e Posted January 23, 2023 Author Posted January 23, 2023 Made a few adjustments and now they're ready to spray black 1 Quote

Cliff Edge Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I’m way out of the loop on 3D printing (never been in the loop really) but libraries have 3D printers now? 1 Quote

I've just picked up a Peavey Rudy Sarzo and was thinking about replacing all the electronics on it. Now this has really pleased me! Did the MM sized pickups fit into the existing pickup recesses or did you have to rout them out a bit? The rings look awesome! 2 Quote

Specifically for the "ears" No routing for the main body but though. It's what inspired the rings actually. My poor routing! 1 Quote

lidl e Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 34 minutes ago, Owen said: WAIT! WHAT IS THAT BASS? It's an entirely hand-made tele bass a buddy of mine built. We did all the design and specs and he built and painted it. The body is all mahogany under there. I can't remember if the neck is as well or we went with maple. All very high end parts. It's an incredible bass. He only ever made the 2. One for me and a 5 string one for himself. It's as good as any bass I've played. In fact, i think i might pull it out tonight! Quote
