Trumpets and fish don't mix

We heard from a blower called Rick

His mates for a jape

Thought it would be great

Now Rick calls his old mates pricks

I had this with a MM Sterling.  The bass and case were really smelly.  I completely took the bass to bits and washed everything - except the electrics, obvs, before someone mentions it :) - in warm soapy water, then polished the body, neck and hardware.  The case got a liberal helping of 'Shake n Vac'.

There once was a guy called Paul

He didn't like the smell of his bass at all

He took it pieces and washed of the faeces

and now he’s telling us all

Damn I re used ‘all’

It's funny how basses get a specific smell.

I have had a few nitro finished basses (excellent instruments and naming no names) that gave off the aroma of old socks. They were very funky basses though, mind...

It’s fairly hot here today, would this be a good time to leave my 71 Bass case outside to air?

Not so much 'heat', but UV and a good breeze seems to shift the stench.
