BassBeast
Hello folks, Has anyone any experience recording with both of these interfaces? I have the 2i2! All the reviews point to the Clarett is significantly improved? Any experiences welcome!
Sibob
Hey @BassBeast, Which generation of Scarlett do you have? Ultimately, Clarett+ has a better audio spec than Scarlett, but it varies how much better dependant on which Gen of Scarlett you have. They're both current models (Scarlett Gen 3rd Gen and Clarett+), so it's about what kind of audio spec and features you want really. BassBeast
Hello there. Mine is the 3rd gen. Some folks say for recording instruments there’s no need for a Clarett. For vocals maybe?

Unless you're needing, now or in the future, the MIDI functionality, or the optical connections, I doubt anyone would hear any difference; both have excellent, if not identical, pre-amps. If you've already the Gen 3, you're already all set.

Dood
I have and use the Clarett USB 2Pre (not the current + version) and I find it to be exceptional. It has been used in my studio solidly everyday since I received it (and has both recorded and mixed many of my reviews for Bass Gear and Guitar Interactive Magazines. I really need more input channels now, so I did wonder about either going for a Scarlett Gen3 or even the Scarlett OctoPre to connect to my Clarett for another 8 channels of input. Either way, I think the Clarett is a very good interface and the likes of YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@JulianKrause speaks very highly of it - and he knows his tech! @Sibob is absolutely brilliant and knows his stuff Focusrite/Novation support has been amazing with my controllers and the like too, which means a lot to me as a professional. Cheers Si!
BassBeast
Yes. I watched that video! I really need to know some in depth info of bass guitar quality versus the scarlet. Marginal or otherwise.

They’re certainly not identical on the audio spec side, but I would personally agree with the rest of what you're saying. 41 minutes ago, BassBeast said: Yes. I watched that video! All the specs are on the website, but whether the perceived gains are marginal or significant will be down to your ears. What I will say is that I have great sounding releases with artists on Spotify that are recorded using both Scarlett and Clarett.
