PaulThePlug Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Not a huge fan of fancy... Flame done to death on LP's, Birds Eye and Buck just look messy... but, loves a bit of 3D Quilted... 1 Quote
alyctes Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Not for me, even if I was a Fender person. Quote
Newfoundfreedom Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 I'd have to counter by saying it's not cheap, nor is it nice. That kind of finish always looks extremely cheap and tacky to me. It reminds me of all those 80's budget basses and guitars that were trying to look much flashier than they actually were. Give me plain colour or natural wood any day. 3 Quote
prowla Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Is that one of the ones with the stick-on quilted top? Quote

Bassassin Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 One of the few occasions I've ever looked at anything with 'Fender' on the end & gone "WANT THAT ONE!" Not sure who makes Japanese Fenders these days, but if the old rules still apply, MIJ = Fujigen. And it was them responsible for the FotoFlame stickers... 1 Quote

vinorange Posted February 4, 2023 Author Posted February 4, 2023 Clearly that bass divides opinion! Quote
Newfoundfreedom Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 To be fair, the neck looks nice, and the colour wash on the back. If they'd gone with that on the front it might be a nice bass, but that finish is hideous. Quote
Hellzero Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 I love it! It's way too pricey, but it's beautiful! 1 Quote
WHUFC BASS Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 For that sort of money, I'd at least want a hi-mass bridge on it. Why do Fender still persist with the BBOT, even on their high-end basses? Quote
Hellzero Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Because this bridge works great with these Fender basses and many others. Each time I've put another bridge, I simply noticed that it adds strictly nothing sound wise to that BBOT bridge. Simplicity is often the best way to achieve a goal. Quote

I'm not talking about sound, I'm talking more about tuning stability and more scope for intonation. I'd go as far to say that nobody could tell the difference in sound between a BBOT and a Hi-Mass bridge. Quote

No brainer for what they intend to be high end bass really. Quote
