JoeEvans Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Just made an experimental tailpiece using 2mm dyneema cord. It's definitely improved the sound a bit - slightly brighter and more resonant with better balanced tone and volume across the strings. The cloth is to mute the resonance in the cords. 2 Quote
Happy Jack Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Many users ask “What is HMPE/Dyneema ® and Dyneema ropes”? The short answer is that Dyneema ® is the world's strongest man-made fibre™. Dyneema ® is also called ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), used for manufacturing several types of ropes, slings and tethers. Quote
Happy Jack Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Without seeing how you have tethered this to the end pin, it's hard to get a clear picture of what you've actually done. Quote
chrkelly Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Looks like a Marvin (https://marvinusa.com). Interesting concept but I've still never seen anyone use one. Quote
JoeEvans Posted January 31, 2023 Author Posted January 31, 2023 Happy Jack - it's just four loops of cord, each going round the tail pin, with a bronze washer on each to take the strings. Quote
