Fishfacefour Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 I have a peerless guitar too. They're gorgeous instruments. 2
Johnboybassman Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Hi Schnozzalee - can certainly agree with you, the craftsmanship on these basses is indeed incredible - a lot of quality there for a very realistic price - I have the same bass next but one (ending 540) in the natural flame maple finish - they did a grey also I think - but both the red and natural look stunning IMHO 🙃 Good luck with the sales - just need to avert my eyes from the guitar version - thats a beauty too 1
Schnozzalee Posted February 2, 2023 Author Posted February 2, 2023 Thank you all - Peerless' are perfectly made, so I'd recommend any model. The 'retro' ones don't look as good, but play and sound great and they don't export anymore. My guitar was a special edition for Ivor Mairants in London, but it has an underwound '57 classic that doesn't suit me - I'd prefer something 'plummier'. It also has a solid maple top as opposed to the laminate. The pickups and hardware on the bass are brilliant, so it sounds just like you'd want it to, with plenty of wallop if needed. It is wearing rounds at the moment though. I'd love to see the natural version @Johnboybassman - I think that would be the best finish, considering how flashy the grain is! Hard to capture on camera for the red.
Woodinblack Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 One of those pictures looks a bit less bass like than another!

Johnboybassman Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 (edited) Hi Schnozzalee - your wish is my command - I have never seen another one - I bought it a good few years ago, and just after buying it came across a guy in the USA kicking himself that he had been gassing over it for too long and missed out. Not my daily bass - as I tend to favour the shortscales - but it's a stunner and no doubt about the craftsmanship - got to stop looking at your six string - they would look great together 🙈😊 Edited February 2, 2023 by Johnboybassman 3 2

Grahambythesea Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Brilliant bass, Peerless make first class guitars. Love my Bassmaster Player and used to have a New Yorker guitar which I shouldn’t have sold. GLWS sorry I can’t afford it myself. 1
Schnozzalee Posted February 3, 2023 Author Posted February 3, 2023 Thank you all - I nearly bought the Bassmaster Player as well 😃 What flatwounds do you use? I was thinking Rotosound, but I have D'Addario flats on the guitar (quite bright).
stewblack Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 The most gorgeousist bass on this forum. Just wow. 2
Woodinblack Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 I do love the peerless - I have a gigmaster guitar that I haven't played in years somewhere upstairs. I made the mistake of replacing the woodent bridge with a metal roller bridge, don't ever do that. Luckily it isn't bolted in so it is an easy swap back! 1
DrDrill Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Mine's like this. Pic blagged from t'interweb 'cos I can't get a decent pic. 4

D'Addario Chromes XL Regular Light Gauge flats for me every time - dont like to hear a zing on my string - warm and mellow 🙃 1

If you have the ES-175 style Gigmaster, that's really hard to find! I was hunting one of those for a long time, as I'm a big Steve Howe fan 😁.
Schnozzalee Posted February 10, 2023 Author Posted February 10, 2023 I'm the original owner for this one and the film is still on the pickups, so genuinely as new and never gigged. Although all the case latches lock, I would say one is a bit wobbly. 1

Macbass68 Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 So is this still up for sale? Thanks, Mac
Schnozzalee Posted February 26, 2023 Author Posted February 26, 2023 Howdy Mac - Yep, the bass still up for sale currently. I think the guitar may be on it's way South.
three Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Such a thing of beauty but of little use to me. The guitar similarly beautiful but of even less use. Wonderful craftwork and finishing 1
