DerRick
Hi everyone, I feel it's about time to introduce myself - I signed up 10 years ago to buy at the marketplace what is my main axe ever since (an absolutely stunning custom shop Gibson Thunderbird) from user @lamp(Hi Nick! Great you're still around here! 🙂 maybe you remember your ex-Gibbo...?! 😉 ) I am born an live in Munich and play bass for something like 20 years or so (without having it learned yet tough 😉 ) in a Munich based Skaband. I have a soft point for Thunderbirds, so I 'had to' buy @krispns D-Bird a couple of weeks ago.😁 GAS never sleeps, as ya all know.... This is what it looks like when we play a local Irish Pub: Here are my basses (the Spector ist sold, stupid me): Left to right: Status Empathy, LTD Viper 414, Gibson Thunderbird, Italia Maranello, self-built 'Ray'nBird', Epiphone T-Bird-body with Status Stingray neck, Hohner B2B and Specor LX5 (sold☹️) Cheers! DerRick
Thanks for the warm welcome and your friendly words about my basses!😊 @krispn: same same!😉 Shame that I could not pick up the Ding in person.🍻 17 hours ago, ezbass said: Nice, eclectic collection there. What is the story with the left handed Italia? Thanks! It came my way and I fell in love instantly...😇 now I got the nut changed and applied the same pin-extension as seen on my Ray'nBird, so I can play it right-handed. 1
Ralf1e
Lovely collection of basses but Why sell the LX5? You could have given it to me if you didn't like it 🤣 Ensuing bun fight over others who would have liked it!
lamp
Oh wow! Hi Oliver! I remember you! Funnily enough I was describing that bass to someone the other day and lamenting that I had no pics of it 🤣 So pleased to see you’re still rocking it - do I spy new pickups?? cheers Nick
DerRick
Hi Nick, yes it's been some time...😉 10(!) years! No new pickups, I dared to grind the plastic covers off the original pus (eventually killed an EMG HZ by trying this😏) and squeezed the pus in chrome covers as I kind of disliked the plastic looks on the flamboyant outfit of the 'bird...😉 put then some extra money in chrome Schallers and a Hipshot supertone to complete the looks. Here's the complete story with pics on german bass forum bassic.de: https://www.bassic.de/threads/pimp-tha-thunderbird-chrome-wont-bring-you-home.14812390/ Cheers!🍻 Oliver
