Quatschmacher
An interesting concept. Would like to see if this works as presumably it’ll take away some distance from the string height when installed. https://guitarflatter.com Edited February 5, 2023 by Quatschmacher
fleabag
Interesting concept, but jeeeeeeeeeeez, what string height does one need to have on the fretted instrument to be able to slide that thing under them ?

Oh, I see. It kind of has its own nut built in so it raises the string height at the nut end to have enough clearance. So not something you can just pop in without loosening strings off and retuning.
Quatschmacher
I’m guessing it only goes to the 12th/13th fret to avoid having to adjust bridge saddle heights.
TheGreek
Forgive me, memory isn't what it was... Wasn't there something similar posted recently - "designer" claiming it was clever/ unique/ special??
fleabag
I think the only truly credible fretted to fretless instant conversion is the Mikey Bass, which was out maybe 15 years ago or more. Very innovative. And it really is instant, unlike the perspex flatter Mikey website is gone so i assume they fell on stoney ground Edited February 5, 2023 by fleabag

fleabag
It was and i'd love to have one. I would also like to see inside for how on earth the system works
lidl e
Steinberger did this 30 years ago with a knob so it really was instant fretless
paul_5
Just looked at the website and they don't fir Fender P bass necks. I would have thought that being arguably the best selling bass design of all time that's a bit of a swing and a miss from a design perspective. Dan Dare
Novatone Switchboards, anyone? They were around in the 1970s. There were issues - the amount of wood that had to be removed from the neck to fit them made the neck potentially weak and they were attached via magnets that lost adhesion after a while and made them prone to slipping out of position, for example.
