Geek99
There’s two, run by different people who know each other. One is in a pub in town and the other in community centre. I was told by host at the one in town that he often goes to the other and that they need a bass player; however he has never actually turned up any time I’ve gone there so each I spend an hour listening to kids playing violins and guys in their late 60s playing Rihanna songs on acoustic guitars. No one seems to be hosting it. Seems it starts at 8 and is fixed in stone at that point - I cannot get there for 8 due to kids bedtime i have more chance of playing at the one in town but it’s a bit of a step and goes on pretty late which isn’t good as I have to be up at 6 every day and I have chores to do when I get home and don’t want to wake the dogs if everyone is asleep does anyone know a decent OM night around coalvile, groby, Markfield ? Mykesbass
In my experience Open Mic nights are really very much singer/guitarist affairs, no backline and no rhythm section. See if there are any jam nights locally.
Downunderwonder
You could liven up the early local one by bringing along a cajon box drum. When I was getting back into it all after time off music I went to an open mic that had a couple of guitars and a conga. Nobody much played the conga aside from the host but when I showed up with bass the percussion players showed up in numbers with their own gear and we had a whale of a time.
Geek99
When I went to one where I used to live myself and one guitarist used to agree a song on the night and just do the best version we could - that worked
