I really see a fretless P in my future (or a Mustang, should I acquire a candidate for defretting), I want to get away from the more common, nasal fretless sound (MM, bridge J, etc).

Thanks for the pre-emptive strike but I actually quite like the very 70s natural/black look.  I'm not sure I'm good enough to get away with your suggestion sadly.
