What colour should I paint this P?

I put this together at the end of last year after I bought a Fender Roadworn 50s Precision neck in the Black Friday sale. I was going for a '57 vibe but the body is a Fender MIJ 70s P body in 3-tone sunburst, which isn't strictly accurate.

 

Initially I was going to go for black, though I've swayed towards blonde, and 2-tone sunburst, although there is a visible join and change in grain between the 2 pieces of the body. I like the idea of Shell Pink, but I've already refinished my JV Precision in the same colour. I love Sonic Blue, but it's also not strictly correct for the period.

 

If I'm refinishing it, then the options are limitless really, so I thought I'd canvas opinion on here and see if there are any suggestions that I haven't thought of myself.

Why worry about it being period correct? I think a nice sherwood green would look nice with that scratch plate

Pelham blue is a nice colour and I think it would go well with the maple

I like it as it is, save yourself the work and just use it and enjoy!

There are some really nice pastels coming into vogue at the moment. 

Sea foam green may have started the trend.

How about a nice Candy Apple Red, this one is red tint over a gold base coat

I would personally leave it as it is.  But I sprayed mine with red wine red and white pearl scratch plate.

That is a particularly nice looking sunburst. If it was mine, I wouldn't change it.

i just ordered my cans today for my p bass project. i went with jet black. got a fender tortoiseshell pickguard for it

I'd leave the pickguard as is with black, but whatever works for you is best.

Option B, change the pick guard over to tort. Job done.

 

If determined to paint it I would have some fun and go with some custom colour and forget about period correct as it is a reproduction anyway. Pearl forest green.
