You decide eventually that it’s just not going to happen, so you pull the trigger on the dream bass, but not in the finish you are after, then two weeks later your dream bass, in the dream finish appears for sale!!!??? I have just bought a Rickenbacker 4003 in ruby red, less than a fortnight later, my dream finish ‘blue boy’ appears. I had been looking for one for years, so having given up my chances of one appearing, I pulled the trigger on a lovely ruby red finish. Arghh! Pretty sure others have a similar tale to tell. P.S I am very happy with the ruby red 😉 Steve. Take comfort in the knowledge that your ruby will have a much more comfortable neck than the Blueboy.

Are the newer necks better than the old ones. ? Dave

The Blueboy era necks felt massive to me. The past few years have been much better, still substantial but much nicer to play. Mind you, RIC necks are hardly the most consistent of things, considering they used to be famous for being extremely slim!
Waddo Soqable
The modern era Rick necks have a "normal" single truss rod I believe ? The Ricks I had, (excluding fakers) had the twin truss rods, tho tbh I never had cause to mess with them..
dmccombe7
I had a white Ric back in 80's but cant remember how it felt as i couldn't really take to it back then. More about the tone than feel of the bass. I didn,t know they had done away with the twin truss rods. I quite like a slim neck. Dave

Dave I had a white one with black trim about 81, wonder if by a million to one chance you had mine ! People were less fussy then imho, generally it was a bass, you got on and played it, end of.. The Cisneros signature model had a single truss rod, so at least that bass did one something right 😄
