ValleyArts Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Hi all, I have a Trace Elliot bright box, and it's distorting a little bit, I'm pretty sure one of the speakers are blown, does anyone know where I can get a replacement? Thanks Quote

BassmanPaul Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 @ValleyArts did you get the Bright box repaired? Quote

Hey Paul, yes, I had my friend at rocket music in Ipswich take a look at it and sounds OK now (well they never sounded great in the first place) I'm probably going to sell it anyway as I only wanted it as they looked cool. Probably just unhooked the blown driver. 2 Quote
Bill Fitzmaurice Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 A rig of that sort will only sound as good as the crossover allows it to. That means having sufficient high pass slope to prevent over-excursion of the midranges. It also means low passing the woofer cab, otherwise the woofers and midranges will fight each other where they're operating in the same frequencies. MIdrange drivers are a good idea, but as is the case with all good ideas it's the execution that determines success versus failure. If the bright box doesn't have a jack to send a low passed signal to the woofer cab the execution was flawed. If they didn't do that then the high pass filter, if it has one, is also likely to be inadequate. 3 Quote
