Fake MM in GG

It's been pulled for now. Guitar Guitar are decent so they'll not put it back up for sale. Does anyone have any pics of the suspect instrument? I'd be interested to see it.

I’m not sure that they do commission sales, they’ll have traded or bought that I reckon.

It looked like one of those HB models with the twin humbuckers. Most of us on here would have clocked it right away as it had one of those bridges that are fitted to the Sub models, then the tuners, 4 bolt neck...

 

In fact it was the double of one of these Ali Exp jobs

This is a most unfortunate turn of events. However, I'm sure that the pre-owned business has been quite lucrative for them and some small losses for buying bad instruments will probably be covered by the profits they make. As far as guitar shops go, GG are the good guys as far as I'm concerned.

£1599, wasn't it? Blatantly fake, too, not something a shop like that should be getting so very badly wrong.

Yes, I think you're right about that. When I went on yesterday the price was still up but the picture was gone and the box to the right of the listing said 'product unavailable'.

Wasn't even trying to be an accurate copy, surprised it made it onto the website.

 

Surely they'll have the seller's details? Wouldn't think any shop would take a high value used item in without some form of ID.

I wonder if the seller knew what it was and was just chancing his luck in GG as they usually ask how much they want for it. Or was he ripped off himself and sold it not knowing it was a fake?

 

I`m still surprised that they were taken in with such an obvious fake as someone who had the job of checking the instrument over must have checked things out. I imagine they have the sellers details as they usually pay the money into your account.
