Thats a Spoiler, not a Persuader. Fabulous bass! GLWYS

Edit: it is in fact a Persuader! See discussion below. Apologies!

I have no doubt you are correct about about the serial number. Just seems odd as I have only ever seen Persuaders with a PJ (and rarely JJ) configuration and Spoilers with the dual AXY pickups. Here are some marketing ads from Alembic in the 1990s. Doesn't actually matter much of course as its a lovely bass!!!! Again, GLWYS

Thanks, @Clarky.

I think the controls (knobs/switches) between the persuader and the spoiler are different too.

Think I have figured this out. The Spoiler has a Q switch and 2 control knobs, whereas your bass has 3 control knobs, like the Persuader. I reckon someone custom ordered a Persuader with Spoiler pickup arrangements.

Messages crossed, ha! Yep, I am now sure you have a custom ordered Persuader with Spoiler pickup arrangement. Bet it sounds lush!

Just posting this here for reference... from Mica's post in 2007, 15th of January...

http://alembic.com/club/messages/393/35325.html?1168958508

"The Persuaders were originally the same as Spoilers but with our Activator electronics. Traditionally, a Persuader was about $200-300 less than a Spoiler for that reason.

The purpose was to showcase our Activators. There are Persuaders with PJ, JZ, and AXY pickups. There's some with only one pickup too. Controls were one or two volumes (depending on the number of pickups) and a single filter control.

We discontinued the Persuader because of the obvious confusion with the Spoiler basses."

What a beautiful bass! I can’t even manage 3.8 Kilos, let alone 5 but somebody is going to get a fabulous instrument. GLWTS!

Thank you.

BTW, the 5Kg is from our bathroom scales, so, I’m questioning its accuracy.

Worth getting a cheap set of digital luggage scales (less than a tenner on Amazon). Suspect the 5kg weight is exaggerated (I have never played a medium scale Alembic that weighed that much). Besides, a luggage scale is useful for those tricky airlines like Ryanair and Easyjet!!!!
