Beedster Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 So in another thread 'I was made for loving you' by KISS was being proposed as their greatest track by one of the sites more discerning members (@me) and it got me reflecting on that rather special late 70's/early 80's period in which record companies quite literally instructed producers to ensure that there was a disco track on the album. I've always wanted to forma rock disco band, and have just the drummist for it, so am looking forward to seeing what pops up here. Heres my top three for starters. Miss You, the definitive disco statement, but SO Jagger that it slipped under the disco radar for many years Nothing under the radar about this baby however..... Hollywood Nights, i didn't recognise it as disco until it appeared on our setlist, and it's also the moment we realised that our indie/punk drummist was, at heart, a dancer Quote
Clarky Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 More rock than disco but has those late 70s electronic drums: Rock n Roll Fantasy - Bad Company Quote
Happy Jack Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 But if you want the Daddy of them all ... 6 Quote
Gareth Hughes Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Borderline disco, but the 4 to the floor and the chorus harmonies push it over the edge, IMO. 3 Quote
Beedster Posted March 25, 2023 Author Posted March 25, 2023 I’m feeling a setlist coming on here 👍 1 Quote

Leonard Smalls Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 You want rock and you want funk? Don't mess about, look at the works of Mother's Finest! 2 Quote

lowdown Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Apart from their obvious massive hit Disco track... there were at least two more: 1 Quote

Mudpup Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 We were inspired enough by this one to stick it in the set list - goes down a storm with the laydees of a certain age. It's a random bunch of mildly famous Scandinavian metal heads doing guilty pleasure 80's stuff. I love 'em.... 1 Quote
Delberthot Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 I've always loved Guns N Roses and enjoy watching Steve Adler play. I think he has a very bouncy disco feel to a lot of his playing. Especially this song: 1 Quote
TheGreek Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Soul Kitchen - The Doors (but they touched on the dance feel many times) 1 Quote
paul_5 Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 I've always considered this very heavily influenced by Disco... https://youtu.be/Ijk4j-r7qPA 1 Quote
