Well, you say that, but Paul Barker from Ministry played an acoustic bass onstage at The Big Day Out in Milton Keynes in July 1999.  I don't know whether he did this often, but it worked on that day.

Fender Road-Restored Series - an innovative line of instruments carefully relic'd by the Custom Shop, to simulate years of hard road use, then lovingly refinished and restored to as-new condition by the Custom Shop. All the mojo of a vintage instrument without any evidence of it. Be careful your tears don't mark that pristine finish when you see the price. Buy two today!

I think you'll find that's the Custom Shop Remission Bass 🤔

How about targeting the folks who buy them just to hang on the wall:

Fender Dentist

Fender Accountant

Fender Lawyer

Fender Marketing Analyst For Big Digital Startup Nobody's Ever Heard Of (potential neck dive problem with this one)

Etc.

The Fender Pretender 70's RI Series

Specially designed by the Fender Custom Shop to fool people into thinking that you've bought a faker - that's almost good enough to pass as a 70's original but isn't - when in fact it is a REAL FENDER CUSTOM SHOP BASS!!!! Imagine the fun you'll have when your smug muso friends beach behind your back about how little you know about vintage basses, only for you to whip out the Fender Pretender Certificate of Inauthenticity, detailing the list of features that any muso worth their salt knows, simply never came out of Corona in the 70's

Special features include

  • Total weight of bass less than 12lbs
  • Neck pocket same size as the neck heel
  • Strings pass over the pole pieces
  • Bass is playable

Fender WhyMention

Packed with features which, while not offensive, leave you wondering what question they are the answer to. When you're thinking of a new bass this certainly won't cross your mind. If you've got a hole which can't be better filled by a L2000 or Stingray, WhyMention it!

Fender Attic Bass series.

A bunch of basses found in the attic of a recently deceased Grandparent, which look really old and may be genuine vintage Fenders... etc.

Good thinking 👍.   Though as there are clear logistical problems in getting a deceased grandparent to validate a bass, it might be better to have each bass certified by a living Uncle, together with a photo reinacting him finding it in his loft.

Car boot spin off possibilities here also
