Clarky
Hopefully someone will be along to answer this: If one were to import a bass from the US, would it require CITES documentation if it had an ebony fingerboard? Thx
Woodinblack
Ebony isn't a CITES listed wood as far as the US is concerned, so you can get an export licence, which should give you an automatic import, but to be sure, best to email [email protected] to see if it is ok with them

Nothing specific @Beedster Was just browsing a bunch of basses and one had an ebony board, so it was more for future reference and curiosity. Besides, after last week's horse riding accident, I couldn't pick up a ukelele let alone a bass

Clarky
Just now, Beedster said: Ouch, hope all’s OK mate 👍 Went on a supposed "beginner's" horse ride last week, was bucked off and have cracked ribs and damaged right shoulder. Cannot play a bass at all as also lacerated left index finger on rein while being thrown. Am sure I will recover but it may take some time. I know the BC Basses For Sale forum relies on me, so I have that as an incentive to get better

LeftyJ
Finished musical instruments were exempted from CITES rules in August 2019 - with the exception of Brazilian rosewood. Ebony was never on the list, it was always mostly about rosewood
